Every journey through perimenopause and menopause is unique, and at least for me, it brings me great solace to know I’m not alone.
My journey kicked into warp speed when I made the decision to have a total hysterectomy to remove a bothersome fibroid and take preventative measures to stop my family history of ovarian cancer.
As I prepared for surgery and recovery last summer, I found myself searching for stories of other women who had experienced surgical menopause before me to gain wisdom, ease my anxiety and remove the growing isolation I was feeling. I couldn’t find what I needed.
I was looking for something raw. messy. relatable.
So, I decided to film myself through the laughter, tears, frustrations, fears, and worries. I hope sharing these intimate parts of my experience and my life can help others who are facing the surgery ahead or are still trying to process the experience of the surgery behind them.
This is for you, for your loved ones, for anyone who is feeling isolated, nervous, scared, ready, empowered, hopeful, and everything in between.
What People are Saying about The Space Between…
The Space Between is a raw, real, and relevant share. It's a behind-closed-doors peek into what it takes to make life-changing decisions for your own body, your health, your dreams and goals, and your family. May this inspire more of us to share our stories candidly, in whatever ways we can get them out there -- unpolished and unfiltered. Thank you, Dr. J!

The Space Between was so relatable, wow! I have the same exact rollercoaster of emotions - I'm a week away from surgery and I've been doubting even having the surgery as well. Some days I just feel insane! Thank you for sharing your story, it has really been helpful in so many ways.

The vulnerability and bravery it takes to share this information solidifies how important it is we continue to openly discuss our journeys without shame.
Although similar in nature, they are also unique to each of us. The highs, the lows during all stages of a woman’s health journey, inclusive of menopause.
Expression is the catalyst for processing thought, often hidden in shame. Questions then promote discussions; discussions promote learning; learning reduces fear during a very stressful journey.
The statement “when you get your period you become a woman, so what do we become when it’s gone?” The information shared made me think we don’t “become” anything new per se. We are able to share who we really are.
Mental health is a crucial part of this journey. Thank you for sharing your story. 🩷 I hope others, including myself, will be brave enough to do the same.
